PBL old fashion

for PBL we focused on fashion today I am going to tell you some more about old fashion

Old fashion
In the olden days fashion was very different than it is now instead of buying something as the people wanted it they would go find an old piece of fabric some thread and a needle and sew it or they would cut something like and old dress or they would even get knitting needles and some wool and then they would start to knit it up.

You see in the olden days clothes looked very different not like ours and they weren’t as bad for the earth as they are now. Now our clothes look better but to make them better they use bad materials and the dyes just have so many chemicals in them it just kills me to think that the clothes we are wearing right now are so bad for the earth.

Upper classes of the society wore fine muslin and imported silk fabrics while the common classes wore locally made fabrics such as cotton, flax, wool, linen, and leather. Men wore loose long sleeved shirts, loose pants and suspenders. They often wore straw hats while working outside. Women wore long, full dresses with long sleeves and high collars. An apron was worn to protect the dress while doing household chores.

Therefore fashion was better for the earth in the olden days because they didn't use as many chemicals or products that are bad for the earth in their clothing but now people have chosen to add chemicals in the clothing that we don’t need, they are only for the people to look at not for the earth.

what is some information you know about OLD FASHION ?

term four PBL

PBL

Hi  i’m Mimi and this term I choose to work with my friend Zoe. This term for our PBL, our focus
was NZ history. We got to choose out of so many different subjects to do with NZ history like world
war one, NZ space, food, dance/drama, visual art, myths and legends education, sport, women's rights
and fashion, me and Zoe we both felt that we would like to do fashion so that is what we choose. the
teachers then asked us to decide on our question, we decided on “How will NZ fashion influence our
future fashion ?”  this interested us in doing drawings about what clothes look like now and what clothes might look like in the future and we also wrote what the clothes would be made of and how they are made. As soon as we started we felt we needed to incorporate the past clothing a bit more so we made a choice that we would make a script about it. PBL this term was so much fun and I very much look forward to next time we do this.
